Talking about the the subject of Laziness this week reminded me of when I was growing up as a child. My Mother used to wake me up every morning by saying, "The early bird gets The worm!" and every morning I would roll over with sleep filled eyes and say, "yeah, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese!"
Funny how we can justify our lazy attitude. Proverbs 6:9, 6, 8 tells us, "How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?" "Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!" "it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest."
Many people will use this verse to preach prosperity, but Matthew 6:19 instructs us, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Deuteronomy 6:17 tells us, "You must diligently obey the commands of the LORD your God--all the laws and decrees he has given you" Mark 1:35 "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed"
Romans 13:11 tells us, "...it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed."
Seek God with your whole Heart, spend time in the Word, Get up Early and Pray!
