He makes..."wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that
sustains his heart" ~ Psalm 104:15 ~
Although we could read this passage literally and it would read true, it is also a foreshadow of what was to come, and what is now, in Christ Jesus. We have 3 things, the wine, the oil, and the bread.
1. THE WINE
- Mark 2:22 tells us, "...no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, he pours new wine into new wineskins." Like the new wine cannot go into the old wineskin, sinners cannot be filled with the Holy Spirit until they have been forgiven, died to their old selves, and been made new in Christ. Ezekiel 36:26 tells us, "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you..."
2. THE OIL
- God anoints us with His oil and the light of Christ makes our faces shine as we reflect Christ to others. 1 John 2:27 says, "But the anointing that you received from him abides in you..." And Hebrews 1:9 tells us. "God...has anointed you with the oil of gladness"
3. THE BREAD
- God sustains us with the Bread of Life which is Jesus our Lord. John 6:35 says, "...Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again." Hebrews 1:3 tell us, "The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
In JESUS...God makes...
"wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart"
"wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart"
