But you, man of God, flee from all this,
and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you
were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses
~ 1 Timothy 6:11-12 ~
Paul, when he made the above quote, just finished writing
about the love of money, and how many, good, faith filled men, have fallen
because of it, but he doesn't just inform us of what not to do, he also
instructs us on what we should do 'if you have food and clothing, be content
with that.' Paul doesn't say to just be careful concerning this area, he
says's 'flee from it,' in other words 'run for your life
& instead take hold of the eternal life to which you were called.' God
called you to be a Holy Priest, set apart for His service, so pursue, or in
other words, make it your passion, to follow and gain righteousness,
godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. These are the things that
make you rich, as with them you are storing up a great reward in Heaven.
