Top Talents!

Today, we are discussing the parable of the talents which is found in Matthew 25:14-30. Please feel free to read this passage on your own.

Each person in this parable was given talents based on their abilites. There are a couple of things that stand out here.  It is interesting to note that each person in the story were given different amounts of talents. One more than the others. Some may look at this and say that this landowner is being unfair as they should have all received the same amount. If you read the parable carefully, you will notice that each steward(person) had a different ability level. In other words, God does not give us more than we can handle.

So the landowners leaves for a while and when he comes back, he inquires on how well his servents did. As each servant came and shared how they used their talents, the master rewarded accordingly. It should be noted that the good stewards that used their talents wisely and increased were rewarded with the same blessing from the master even though they originally received different amounts.  This shows us that God is concerned with our obedience to Him. God is looking for His good stewards to be faithful with what they have been given.

Finally, we come to the steward that buried his money. Here Jesus is painting a word picture to his early disciples and encouraging them not to bury their talents in the ground. In other words, use the giftings that God has blessed you with to glorify Him.  While in this short review of this parable, I hope this encourages you to use your talents to serve God and be faithful with what God has put you in charge of!

Blessings
