NIV - Proverbs 22:1 A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than
silver or gold.
ISV - Proverbs 22;1 A good reputation is more desirable than great wealth, and favorable acceptance
more than silver and gold
Two translations, same meaning. A good name or reputation is to be valued over riches. I met a man years ago when I was still in the world. Everyone called him "Governor" I too even started calling him this although I didn't know why. After about a year, I asked Him, "Why do people call you the Governor?" His answer, "It stands for the governor of the state of unconsciousness"
If someone was to look at your life, what nickname might they give you? Would it be favorable and glorify God? or would it be something to be ashamed of in the eyes of the Lord and people?
Proverbs 10:7 tells us, "The memory of the righteous will be a blessing, but the name of the wicked will
rot" If your name is not favorable, it's not to late to change it.
