1 Samuel 30:3-6
"When David and his men came to Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive. So David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep. David's two wives had been captured—Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel. David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God."
"BUT DAVID FOUND STRENGTH IN THE LORD HIS GOD!"
After reading these verses, it is safe to conclude that David had gone through a very rough time in his life, probably one of the worst times.
But David had a peculiar way of dealing with his circumstances!
"HE SOUGHT HIS STRENGTH FROM GOD & NOT HIMSELF!"
He went to God to make sense of his situation & also to seek resolve for his problems!
The difference between David & his men was that:
"DAVID PUT HIS TRUST IN GOD, BUT HIS MEN PUT THEIR TRUST IN DAVID!"
Therefore, David found hope in the midst of his struggles while his men could only build up bitterness of spirit that would eventually break them.
HAVE YOU BEEN GOING THROUGH SOMETHING LATELY?
If so, my next question would most certainly be:
"WHERE ARE YOU DRAWING YOUR STRENGTH FROM?"
Is it God? If so, then you will most certainly find relief & resolve!
If not, then you are most likely building up bitterness about the situation & it will eventually break you!
I encourage you to read the full chapter & see God's response!
"DRAW STRENGTH FROM THE WELL THAT PROVIDES LIFE!"
