For you were once darkness, but
now you are light in the Lord... Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of
darkness, but rather expose them...But everything exposed by the light becomes
visible, for it is light that makes everything visible....~ Ephesians
5:8-14
It says "You were Darkness"
and "You are light in the Lord" Did you catch that? Not, you were in,
darkness and now are in, light, but you were darkness,
but now you are light. This is why unbelievers are
uncomfortable around believers. Through the Lord you (as light) expose their sin
and they feel convicted or guilty. The virtue, or the righteousness, is light
reflected onto their sin, or darkness, therefore exposing it in the heart of the
unbeliever. This verse does not mean go around pointing out peoples faults, on
the contrary, it should move you to be careful to a life worthy of the calling
you have received in Christ so that the Lord may grant repentance to others
because of you.
