"Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people—that they would become a curse and be laid waste—and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I also have heard you, declares the Lord."
"BECAUSE YOUR HEART WAS RESPONSIVE & YOU HUMBLED YOURSELF BEFORE THE LORD!" "I also have heard you, declares the Lord."
God is not so much concerned with our words, as He is with our brokenness!
"HE HEARS OUR CRY'S, NOT OUR EXCUSE'S!"
Although disaster had been declared upon King Josiah's Kingdom by the Lord, due to his predecessors;
He did not put the blame on anyone else,
He did not try to excuse himself or his actions because of ignorance,
He did not accuse God of being unjust,
He simply responded with a heartfelt attitude of deep remorse which naturally led to a different course of action!
"HE HUMBLED HIMSELF BEFORE THE LORD!"
"WHEN WE REMOVE EXCUSES, WE REMOVE THE ONE THING THAT KEEPS GOD OUT OF OUR HEART!"
