John 14:1
"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me."
Jesus spoke these words of comfort at a time when His disciples needed it most.
It was a time of confusion & doubt.
A time of unsettling thoughts.
Anxiety was gripping their hearts.
You see, they were with Jesus & He was predicting His betrayal.
He was telling them that He would soon be delivered into the hands of His enemies.
They all knew how badly His enemies wanted to harm Him.
They all knew that this would mean His death.
Therefore, it cut them to the heart & made them question themselves.
It also grieved them at the thought of their Master being taken from them.
He had become their purpose for living.
They had left everything to follow Him.
Life finally made sense to them.
Their purpose had been revealed to them.
They were living out their calling.
But then, all of a sudden, they hit a wall & needed comfort.
This news was unbearable, or so they thought.
Then Jesus spoke these words of comfort at a time when His disciples needed it most.
He went on to encourage them, strengthen them & most importantly purify them for the mission they had been chosen for.
"JESUS WANTS TO DO THE SAME FOR YOU!"
"THINGS MAY HAVE BEEN GOING WELL!"
"THEN SUDDENLY, YOU RECEIVED NEWS THAT SHOOK YOU TO THE CORE!"
But Jesus says;
"TAKE COMFORT!"
"I AM WITH YOU!"
"I AM WITH YOU TO THE END!"
"I WILL COMPLETE THE WORK I HAVE BEGUN!"
