I was wrong!

For many years, I thought that a good life consisted of doing good things.
"I WAS WRONG!"
I also thought that I would find fulfillment in helping others.
"I WAS WRONG!"

As time went on, I thought I figured life out.
"I WAS WRONG!"
In my efforts to make things right, I found myself moving further from the truth.
"I WAS WRONG!"

Eventually, I began to sense that;
"SOMETHING WASN'T RIGHT!"

How?
I began recognizing that my life had fallen into a downward spiral.
"SOMETHING WASN'T RIGHT!"
I realized that humanity was not walking with God, we were fighting against Him.
"I WAS WRONG!"

Then, one day, I made a choice.
I no longer wanted to live a good life, but a GODLY LIFE.
One that would be in step with GOD'S PLANS FOR MY LIFE.
One that would ultimately grant me the fulfillment that my heart had been longing for.

I invited Jesus into my heart & my life has never been the same!
I went even further by surrendering "MY WILL" in order to do "HIS PLEASURE!"
I have found fulfillment & peace in Christ Jesus that will lead me into Eternity!

"LET ME DIE THE DEATH OF THE UPRIGHT, AND LET MY END BE LIKE HIS!"

Follow Jesus!

Matthew 18:3-4
"Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

Jesus made this statement in response to a question His disciples had asked Him.
In the previous chapters, we read that His disciples had witnessed a few events that may have contributed to feelings of pride, insecurity, doubt, even concerns of favoritism which may have led to the strange question:
"WHO THEN IS THE GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN?"

We see that Peter makes his confession of Jesus as Messiah & then Jesus makes a profound & authoritative statement that visualized how He planned to used Peter in the future concerning His Church.
We see that Jesus chose a specific few to go with Him up to the mount where He was transfigured.
We also see where Jesus rebukes His disciples' lack of faith when they asked why they could not cast out a certain demon.
We again find that He directs His questions to Peter concerning the tax inquiries.
Let us not neglect the fact that Matthew, (one of Jesus' other disciples), is the one telling of these accounts.
All the attention given to a certain specific few may not have sat well with the rest.
Hence, the question;
"WHO THEN IS THE GREATEST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN?"

Now, we arrive at Jesus' response to them.
"A CHILD DOES NOT FIND THEIR JOY IN KNOWING EVERY ANSWER!"
"INSTEAD, THEY THEY FIND THEIR JOY IN KNOWING THAT THEY ARE PART OF THE FAMILY!"
Also;
"A CHILD DOES NOT CONCERN THEMSELVES WITH THE DETAILS OF THE HOUSEHOLD!"
"INSTEAD THEY WILL SURRENDER THAT CONTROL TO THE DISCRETION OF THE PARENT!"
Basically;
"THEY TRUST THE PARENT TO BE THE PARENT!"
"THAT'S WHAT MAKES THEM THE CENTER OF ATTENTION!"
"BECAUSE THEIR DEPENDENCY GIVES THE PARENT ALL THE MORE URGENCY TO CARE FOR THEM!"

Therefore;
"NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE, YOU MATTER!"
Why?
"BECAUSE JESUS HAS CHOSEN YOU TO BE ONE OF HIS DISCIPLES!"
"FOLLOW HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART!"

Matthew 25: 42

"For I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink." ~ (Matthew 25: 42)

 

 

 

For those of us who know Your Word and don't always live it, forgive us our trespasses. For those of us who've hardened our heart, stopped caring, and become indifferent to those suffering all around us, forgive us our trespasses oh Lord. Amen.

2 Kings 17: 33

"They feared the Lord, but they also worshiped their own gods according to the custom of the nations where they had been deported from." ~ (2 Kings 17: 33)

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

God not only told us He loved us but then He also showed us with action following. So many times we tell God that we love Him with our lips but our lives do not reflect that. God is calling us to demonstrate our love for Him through action. In other words, showing God that we love him through our lives. 

We all remember the encounter that Peter Had with Jesus in John 21 where Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him. Peter denied three times and Jesus gave Peter the opportunity to tell Him he loved him three times. Peter answers were I love you. At the end of this exchange you will notice that Jesus said "Follow Me". Jesus was saying that if you love me then you will :Follow Me." 

This is how we show God that we love Him and it is simply by "Following Him" in our everyday life. 

May the goodness and mercy of the Lord be with you today!

Live with expectancy of His coming!

2 Peter 3:10-18
"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
 Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat! But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen."

Will You?

Ephesians 2:4-9
"But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."

This past week I was blessed to spend time with my family.
Many bonds were strengthened.
My family was refreshed.
We were able to take care of personal business that needed attention.
We were able to travel & sight-see.
We had a lot of fun.

But most importantly;
"WE WERE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE ALL OF THIS BECAUSE OF EVERYTHING THAT JESUS HAS DONE FOR US!"

Jesus has made all of these experiences possible by His death on the cross.
He has provided for every one of our needs through His faithful promises.
He has seen us through tough times & will continue to do so.
Not because of anything we have done.
"BUT SIMPLY BECAUSE HE LOVES US & HAS A PLAN FOR OUR LIVE'S!"

I want you to know that;

INDIFFERENT - 1. having no particular interest or concern; apathetic. 2. having no marked feeling for or against. 3. not mattering one way or the other; unimportant; immaterial.

Make it personal!

Hebrews 10:17-25

"HE MADE MANKIND IN HIS IMAGE!"
"BUT MANKIND CHOSE TO GIVE ITSELF A MAKE-OVER!"

Mankind went from "UPRIGHT" to "NOT RIGHT AT ALL!"
Mankind's selfish actions caused a break in the mirror.

"WE CAN NOT REFLECT GOD'S GLORY WITHOUT GOD'S PRESENCE!"
"THE IMAGE MANKIND ONCE SHARED WITH IT'S CREATOR WAS BLEMISHED BY IT'S SEARCH FOR IT'S OWN IDENTITY!"
"MANKIND FAILED TO BE THE REPRESENTATION OF PERFECTION THAT GOD HAD CREATED IT FOR!"

But today, there is hope.
Hope has a name.
"HIS NAME IS JESUS!"

"JESUS CAME TO RESTORE US!"
"TO MAKE RIGHT WHAT WAS WRONG!"
"TO FIX WHAT WE BROKE!"
"TO TRANSFORM US INTO THE IMAGE OF THE SECOND ADAM!"
"JESUS IS THE SECOND ADAM!"
"OUR IDENTITY IS FOUND IN JESUS!"
"WE WERE CREATED TO BE COMPLETE IN CHRIST!"
"WE ARE MADE RIGHT IN GOD'S EYES THROUGH JESUS' WORK ON THE CROSS!"
"WE WERE MADE TO BE PERMANENT FIXTURES OF GOD'S GRACE!"

"BUT WHEN WE TRY TO REDEFINE OUR EXISTENCE, WE FAIL TO UNDERSTAND WHO WE REALLY ARE!"

God doesn't just give knowledge so that you can say;
"OH, I UNDERSTAND THAT!"

Instead, He gives knowledge so that;
"IT WILL BENEFIT YOU AS YOU APPLY IT!"

Basically;
"IF YOU DON'T PLAN ON USING IT, DON'T BOTHER ASKING FOR IT!"
"WISDOM IS KNOWLEDGE APPLIED!"
"THEREFORE, IT WILL DO YOU NO GOOD TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE UNLESS YOU INTEND ON PROPERLY APPLYING IT TO YOUR LIFE!"

Hosea 10: 12

"Sow righteousness for yourselves and reap faithful love; break up your unplowed ground. It is time to seek the Lord until He comes and sends righteousness on you like rain." ~ (Hosea 10: 12)

Psalm 126: 5 SOW

"Those who sow in tears, will reap with shouts of joy." ~ (Psalm 126: 5)

 

 

SOW - 1. to scatter (seed) over the ground for growing. 2. to distribute something over.

Psalm 37: 4-5 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

We should take great pleasure in our relationship with the Lord! While we all enjoy a good treat or two. Truly, our desire should be basking in the Lord's presence. Our satisfaction is found only in Him. When our satisfaction is in the Lord, then He will respond and give us the desires of our heart. 

It should be noted that if we are truly satisfied with the Lord , then those desires will be godly ones. For God's ways and thoughts are higher than ours and so we need to think on the things from above. While it is easy to get wrapped up in the desires of this world, we must make a fervent effort to not allow those things to take root into our hearts. 

Commitment is a loosely used term in the society which we live in. It can be interpreted many different ways. Here this is saying that we are going to do be completely devoted to the Lord.  A true commitment to the Lord is a heart that is surrendered to His will and plan for our lives. 

This passage speaks to me that when I concern myself with being a committed follower of the Lord then He will work out all the details in my life. So as we walk in the Lord and grow in our faith, know that God has got your back! Keep the faith and enjoy the journey my friend!

Instead, allow them to see your humanity.
Let them experience your dependency on God for life's circumstances.

If you are frustrated, then be frustrated.
Don't pretend to have patience if you are in need of patience.
Don't pretend to be at ease when anxiety is getting the best of you.

Seek first the Kingdom

Matt 6:33 -But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.


There are many things that we can seek during this lifetime, however, as a believer we are called to seek first the kingdom of God first. In other words, we are to prioritize seeking God in our lives.

Granted it is very easy to get sidetracked and that is the importance of this text is that we are ever mindful of seeking God and his righteousness. When we truly seek the Lord all the other things in our life will be taken care of by the creator. So let us stay focused on the Lord and what He has called us to do!

Psalm 130: 5

"I wait for Yahweh; I wait and put my hope is His Word." ~ (Psalm 130: 5)

Lord, help us to Forget so that we may genuinely Forgive!

Jeremiah 31:34

A preacher once said;
"WE MUST REMEMBER TO FORGET!"

He was preaching a sermon on FORGIVENESS!
Notice that I did not say
Forgiveness & Forgetfulness.
Why?
Because true forgiveness requires forgetfulness.

"IF WE CONTINUOUSLY FOCUS ON PAST WRONGS WE FAIL TO RELEASE THE FORGIVENESS NECESSARY THAT IS MEANT TO SET US FREE!"

"IN ORDER TO LOOK SOMEONE IN THE EYE THAT HAS WRONGED YOU THERE MUST BE FORGIVENESS!"
"ELSE RESENTMENT MAY CAUSE BITTERNESS TO GROW IN YOUR HEART!"

"FREEDOM REIGNS WHERE FORGIVENESS ABOUNDS!"
"BUT FREEDOM CAN ONLY EXIST WHERE THERE IS NO RECORD OF WRONGS!"

So now, we come back to this statement;

Has someone wronged you?
Have you been trying to let it go?
Has it become a struggle?
Does their presence disturb you?
Does the mention of their name make you cringe?

"THEN, MAYBE, YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN TO REMEMBER TO FORGET!"

"THE REASON WE ARE ABLE TO ENJOY A FULLY RESTORED RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS BECAUSE HE FORGOT WHAT HE REMEMBERED BY REMEMBERING TO FORGET!"

"LOVE'S ULTIMATE EXAMPLE IS NOT FORGIVENESS, BUT FORGETFULNESS OF SIN THAT BRINGS ABOUT FREEDOM TO FORGIVE!"

The only question that a Christian's life should raise in the heart of a lost person is;
