Philippians 2:3-8 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very natureb of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross!
Philippians 2:9 - And all is crowned by His glorious exaltation: "God has highly exalted Him"
We must be like Christ in self -emptying and self-humiliation. Christ teaches us it is not sin that must humble us like many Christians think, No, it is grace we need and not sin to make and keep us humble.

We must trust ourselves fully to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. He will guide us, for it is His work, and he will glorify Christ in us.
The blessedness of a Christ like humility is unspeakable. it is of great worth in the sight of God. "He gives grace to the humble"

The faith that with His atonement, accepts His example too, is alone true faith.
Humility is always ready to praise God for the least of His mercies.

What a glorious calling for the followers of Christ! To be sent into the world by God to prove that there is nothing more divine than self-humiliation. The humble glorifies God, he leads others to glorify God, and he will at last be glorified with Him.
Who doesn't want to be humble like Jesus?

These are great reflection verses. What comes to mind for me is that I've been reflecting a bit lately on sin and how sin is natural to us in the flesh. Sin is the way of the world and to follow Christ is unnatural to human nature. Nevertheless we must do it. It's interesting to read these verses from Phillipians and think that Jesus did the same in reverse. Jesus has to do what was unnatural for Him, to serve, live in the flesh, and ultimately to die. These are all things He didn't have to do, but did out of love for us.
